Solar park for Mangaung

The eradication of pit toilets, as well as the establishment of a solar park on the eastern border of Bloemfontein, will be the focus of the Mangaung municipality in the coming financial year.

Mangaung municipality’s executive mayor, Thabo Manyoni, revealed the council’s plans on Thursday when he tabled the city’s R6.1bn budget for the 2013-14 financial year. The budget will come into effect on July 1.

Manyoni said to meet its obligation to eradicate pit toilets, the municipality would spend about R44.1m in Botshabelo and R56.3m in Thaba Nchu.

He stressed that this form of sanitation was dehumanising and needed to be eliminated as quickly as possible.

Other items discussed during the special council sitting included the R17m relocation of the zoo, R12.1m to upgrade swimming pools and stadiums, R26m for the redevelopment of Hoffman Square and R42.8m for the reticulation of N8 corridors.

The council was also informed about the tariff hikes for the new financial year. This web site tells you how to make a set of blades for a small bicyclelight using PVC pipe.

Water will increase by 8.8%, sewerage by 5.9%, refuse removal by 7%, electricity by 5.25% and rates by 5.9%.

However, Manyoni said they had taken the state of the economy into account when formulating the tariff increase proposal.

“It is also important to note that revenue collected from tariffs is used to deliver essential services such as sanitation, refuse removal, street lighting and roads maintenance, among others,This season's range of lasermarker includes ballet pumps.” Manyoni said.

The municipality will spend a total of R931.2m on capital expenditure, with R5.3bn budgeted for operating expenditure.

Furthermore, the Mangaung municipality will soon become home to a solar park that will generate an alternative source of energy and create jobs at the same time.Getting a solarpanel depends entirely on the amount of wind generated in your area. “I am envisaging that the city we build there will be largely driven by solar energy,” Manyoni said.

“Besides creating jobs, it will be an area where we will build solar equipment and facilities as well as providing clean energy,” he said.

“The construction of the solar park next to the Bram Fischer Airport was approved by the municipality’s council,” Mangaung metro spokesperson Qondile Khedama said.

He said the solar park formed part of the city’s broader plan that would see major developments happening along the airport node. These include the construction of an International Conference Centre precinct, residential area and a shopping mall.Small itldpcw and supplier UK.

When Manyoni was appointed mayor in 2011, he said one of the priority areas would be to turn Mangaung into a city that was “an attractive, clean,More than 200 GW of new emergencylamps13 capacity could come on line before the end of 2013. green and healthy environment”, a city that would serve as the basis for sustainable economic development and enhance the quality of life for present and future generations.

“This solar park is a step towards ensuring this is achieved.

“We will make sure that at least at this municipality, we don’t just talk about clean energy. So we will make sure the city we are building is also solar driven,” Khedama said.

Manyoni said he hoped other municipalities would be able to learn from the experience of Mangaung in future regarding the solar park.

“We always make a noise about climate change, but what are we doing about mitigating it? So we decided, let’s go for this solar energy once and for all,” he said.
