BEO-HSF again

I had been a science fiction fan in my youth but like most people I thought space operas were only to be realized in the far future. Project Orion changed my worldview. Since then my made up mind has been unmade several times concerning most of the “common knowledge” floating around about space flight in this 21st century. Much of what is generally believed to be true about our space program is made up of recent hearsay used to hype products that further a business plan. When I read these infomercials endlessly repeated as fact I get pretty upset, mostly because exposing these “facts” as false advertising almost always results in vicious attacks. The private space cult fanatics disgust me and I will not apologize for my hard feelings about these people. They mislead, obfuscate, and insult and dogpile anyone who disagrees with their dogma.

It was a slow step by step process but I came to realize the path to the stars is a narrow one. I found the U.S. space effort, described as being on “the flexible path”,LED light bulbs Comparison Charts showing cost-effectiveness of lightprojectshh versus CFL and Incandescent light bulbs. to be going nowhere. There is no Flexible Path. The path to colonizing the solar system is narrow indeed due to the laws of physics and materials science. Science fiction movies have conditioned the public to believe such natural laws can be violated and technology that breaks these laws is possible and immanent.

This attitude has led to much waste and many tragedies in the past decades and there is soon to come great disappointment over breakthroughs that are far easier said than done. By way of political contributions and backroom deals, the flexible path scheme came into existence as a way of making money for a small group of investors looking to cash in on public ignorance of technology through influence peddling. It is a convoluted and confusing story and perhaps the best way to make the truth clear is to start at the desired end and work backwards.

If the end goal is new worlds for humankind to inhabit, the earliest practical portrayal of a possible new world was in the 1929 work, “The World, The Flesh,Your Outdoor Lighting Source, tagheuerwatchess Add curb appeal with these wall light designs. and The Devil”, by socialist John Desmond Bernal. I must say I am no socialist (or capitalist), but I am someone who is often unhappy with people at either end of that spectrum. Space is not about politics– it is about survival. More than just surviving– thriving. Human beings need earth-like conditions to thrive and a artificial hollow moon as described by Bernal can provide those conditions.Though the sphere proposed by Bernal does not address artificial gravity, the hollow sphere concept does,A full range of bestsolarcarport products for outdoor decoration. if spun, allow for earth gravity on the inner surface at the equator.

Hollow spheres in space can provide habitats for thousands, millions, perhaps even tens of billions of people. The restoration of our vintage ledlightsty and lamps, and our Lamp Repair Service, Space is big, with quite large quantities of rock floating around and plenty of solar energy waiting to be exploited. And tens of thousands of icy comets. Solar energy and low gravity resources in the asteroid belt mean that building on a much larger scale than we do on earth is practical. While we construct thousand foot supertankers and skyscrapers with some difficulty in earth gravity, the same masses of metal and concrete in space can form a shell many miles in diameter with many times less energy expended.

The only practical spaceship shielding is 14 or more feet of water.LED modules and module strings for solarstreetlight. The only way to propel this much mass around the solar system is with nuclear energy. Nuclear activities in earth orbit are not acceptable. Lifting thousands and eventually millions of tons of water into earth orbit are also not plausible. This path of reasoning leads to the moon where nuclear activities are permissible and there is water.

Renewable Industry: Energizing India

In India, renewable energy is important from the twin perspectives of energy security and environmental sustainability. Globally, the country stands amongst the top five countries in terms of installed RE capacity, which is around 9 per cent of the total power generation capacity and contributes over 3 per cent in the electricity mix.Your Outdoor Lighting Source, tagheuerwatchess Add curb appeal with these wall light designs...

The rapid economic growth and consequent industrialization and urbanization have resulted in massive demand for power in India. While the electricity sector is facing growing uncertainty on conventional fuel supply side, the government has shifted focus to country's abundant renewable resources. In the Indian context, renewable energy is important from the twin perspectives of energy security and environmental sustainability. Large scale capacity additions under numerous plans are already under way.

India stands among the top five countries in terms of renewable energy capacity, with an installed base of over 15 GW,We can produce chandelierlight according to your requirements. which is around 9 per cent of India's total power generation capacity and contributes over 3% in the electricity mix.

Installed wind capacity has the largest share at over 12 GW, followed by small hydro at 2.8 GW. The remainder is dominated by bio-energy,A short video on how to engage the magicshinebikelight on a roof ladder. with solar contributing only 15 MW. The 11th Plan calls for grid-connected renewable energy to exceed 25 GW by 2012. JNNSM targets total capacity of 20 GW grid-connected solar power by 2022. Renewable energy technologies are being deployed at industrial facilities to provide supplemental power from the grid, and over 70% of wind installations are used for this purpose. Biofuels have not yet reached a significant scale in India.

India's installed solar power capacity of 15.2 MW at the end of June 2010 was based entirely on PV technology with approximately 20% of the capacity being used for off -grid applications. Currently, more attention is being paid to large-scale solar PV projects.Shop online for a wide range of besttube-led and uplighters at the Argos Lighting shop.

In Phase 1 of the JNNSM, which ends in 2013, the target is to install 500 MW of grid-connected solar PV power and equal MW of CSP. Besides the central government scheme of the JNNSM, several projects are also running under state programs such as in Punjab, Gujarat, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Karnataka, though many of these are being migrated to the JNNSM. The creation of special economic zones that provide land, water, and power as well as financial incentives has spurred growth in domestic manufacturing.

The industry is divided on the sustainability of solar projects at this low pricing. While some argue that these developers are well-established with a strong financial backing and proven track record, will sustain, for others it is sure a cause of concern. There are demands for change in selection criteria of MNRE in order to ensure only serious players stay in the industry. For now, we can only wait and watch to see what happens in the coming months of the sector.LED light bulbs Comparison Charts showing cost-effectiveness of lightprojectshh versus CFL and Incandescent light bulbs.

However, the second round of bidding has highlighted the growing interest among international companies towards the Indian solar market. Some of the companies who walked away winning projects are Solaire Direct, Welspun Solar, Astonfield, Sun Edison.

Another interesting development regarding developer's shifting focus towards less expensive thin film from crystalline has also been witnessing, which has enabled these developers to reduce their capital cost. Currently, the domestic content requirement is mandated only for crystalline silicon technology whereas it is not applicable for thin film technology. This has led to imported thin film modules account for about 60-70% of all PV installations in the country (including projects under the Gujarat State Policy).

Thin film modules come with low cost financing support, which has direct bearing on the project's capital cost. While it is applaudable that solar tariffs have been brought down substantially, there is a need to analyse as to how much of that was because of slowdown of the European markets together with the expansion of manufacturing capacities, especially in China. It is not yet not certain whether this downward trend would continue or stabilise at current levels, which has its bearing on JNNSM's goal.

The Love’s Revolution

Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores is set to begin construction on its 300th location this August. As it prepares for this milestone, the travel stop and c-store giant is making a dynamic push to bring its 58 Love’s Country Stores—in Colorado,Manufacturer of electronics products such as solarledlampsry, mobile phone, mp4 player, and digital photo frame. Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas—up to speed with full interior and exterior facelifts.

Along with these extensive remodels, Love’s is ramping up its foodservice presence, expanding its proprietary Love’s Subs brand to include pizza and burritos; remodeling its coffee, condiments and grab-and-go sections and providing customers with new frozen beverage and yogurt programs. The proprietary foodservice program feeds nicely into the company’s Love’s fuel brand, enhancing its overall brand value.

In addition to currently operating 292 Travel Stops and Country Stores in 39 states, Love’s also operates more than 500 Gemini Motor Transports, 148 Love’s Truck Tire Care locations, four Love’s-branded car washes and a number of QSRs . In the latter half of 2012, the chain aims to build eight new travel stops with its 300th location set to open in early 2013.

“Currently with our c-store division,Browse the UK's best selection of laserengravingmachine, handpicked from the finest stores and designers. we are going through the process of looking into what we can do to better service our customers, upgrading the appearance of our stores and providing more offerings to our customers,” said Mike Herman, director of operations for Love’s Country Stores.

In 2011, Love’s first began sprucing up its stores, upgrading to three-in-one fuel dispensers at all 58 of its convenience stores. With the forecourts finished—in May 2012–the full store remodels began. At presstime four stores had already received facelifts with the project scheduled for completion in 2014.

“Each store is on a different timeline,All of our fabrics, textures, and custom prints are available for our bestcrystallightb, table lamps, pendant lighting and wall sconces.” Herman noted. “We’re targeting about 15 stores this year, and we’ll target another 15-20 in 2013. We’re on a process where stores most in need and our highest traffic stores are converted first.”

Stores set for remodeling will receive an updated exterior with a brick stone motif; however, the outdoor graphics package, which rolled out just 10 years ago, will remain the same. “We’re still pleased with that package and our graphics still look really good,” Herman said. “As we added the new three-in-one gas dispensers,Wholesale cheap magicshinebikelight lamp at everyday low prices. we also just updated the graphics on our pumps.”

Inside, the stores will receive a more extensive remodel, complete with new floor and ceiling tiles, a brighter, more energy efficient lighting package with two-bulb fixtures (down from four), a fresh interior graphics design, and a new cherry-walnut color on the walls to brighten the stores and offer a more upscale and “food-friendly” feel. The restrooms will also receive an upgrade, with single stall units becoming dual stall restrooms with dual sinks.

The new interior graphics design includes new menu boards and fresh signage for Love’s newly introduced frozen drink and yogurt programs.

“What makes our program different from most others is our state-of-the-art dispensers. We take up a six-foot linear footprint of frozen drink machines with 11 different options, and our frozen yogurt program, with the pull of a lever, gives customers a selection of 17 different yogurts, candies and flavors,” Herman said. “At most c-stores you see frozen drink machines lined up 4-6 side by side, taking up 8-12 feet of space. At Love’s, we do it in a much smaller footprint. Space is limited, especially at our older stores,Philips' premium bluebright offer high-quality, vivid light with natural shades of white. so we need to do more with less.”

Dutchess solar business innovates, adds jobs

The solar industry may have its share of troubles, but one Dutchess County company that makes specialty photovoltaic panels has been doing well in its eighth year here.

Atlantis Energy Systems Inc.The Security Sensor ledlampsfactory is a solar powered convenience light with a built-in motion sensor. makes custom panels for building-integrated use – where the panels are designed for the structure and built into it, that is.

A huge example of this was recently done by Atlantis, and can be seen by anyone traveling to the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. High atop the rim of the bowl, there is a “Solar Ring” of 1,400 modules that can generate about 300 kilowatts from the sun’s rays.

“It’s the biggest job we ever had,” said Jack Kennedy, plant manager at Atlantis’ facility in the Town of LaGrange near Manchester Bridge.

The work temporarily boosted staffing for about four months, up to about 45 people, and even sent the plant into a rare double-shift pattern. Employment here is typically about 20.

Frank Pao is head of the company. He was working for IBM Corp. and living in Poughkeepsie in the Kingwood Park neighborhood. He became interested in putting solar power on his roof, but learned that no solar panels were allowed there.

“I began to look into, maybe a solar tile, but I couldn’t find the kind of tile that I wanted,” Pao said. His search led to finding a Swiss company that made a tile with silicon solar cells built onto it. He invested in the company, which later went bankrupt. One of its assets was a factory in Virginia. Pao wound up taking that over in 2001. He is now the principal owner.

In 2004, he set up a manufacturing plant in the Dutchess County site to make custom panels, another form of what’s known in the trade as BIP, or building-integrated photovoltaic. These are not the usual bolted-on add-ons, or arrays standing in a field. Rather, they are an actual part of the building, or a specialty fixture.

One example is the solar “sunflowers” atop the JetBlue offices in Austin, Texas, a functional but decorative element.

The Sunslates are still made and are now fabricated at the local plant. Pao smiles as he says he’d like to drop some names of famous people who have had their roofs made into generators, but confidentiality prevents that.

It’s not cheap. The Sunslate system runs about $10 to $11 per watt installed,LED modules and module strings for solarstreetlight. which with a typical 7,000-watt array runs to $70,000 and up. But, Kennedy points out, that’s also your roofing material,At prolite we offer a range of lightprojectzz that provides proper & regular lighting which has good visibility and is comfortable for human beings. as the glass and tile system is watertight and durable.

A newer product, called Tallslates, is bigger and consists of interlocking panels on a backer, again forming a watertight roof.

Atlantis gets most of its business from its sales staff keeping in touch with architects and others interested in solar applications.

Sometimes, other solar companies contract out specialty jobs they get to Atlantis.

The MetLife job was such. A major solar development company, NRG Energy, was the general contractor for the solar ring and they hired Atlantis to make the panels.

The ring has built-in LED lights that can glow green for the Jets and blue for the Giants, two football teams that use the 82,500-seat stadium.

About 20 percent of the power generated by the ring goes to that lighting while the rest offsets the power bills of the stadium, Pao explained.

Cape Town Energy Efficiency Plans

The City of Cape Town has been focusing on how it can save energy in its operations in order to reduce its environmental impact, improve resource efficiency, and avoid excessive electricity costs – especially in light of Eskom’s tariff increases and South Africa’s electricity supply shortages.

The City’s own operations are responsible for 1,4% of all energy consumption and 2,2% of all electricity consumption in Cape Town. The new LED solarsystem are much brighter and last much longer on a set of batteries. Considering that the City is just one organisation, this is a large amount of energy.

“Recognising the role that it has to play in leading by example and helping to promote energy efficiency in Cape Town, the City has committed to reducing its energy consumption by 10%. A number of projects and programmes are already underway, and the savings that are being realised are helping to motivate for further projects to be initiated,” said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic, Environmental and Spatial Planning, Alderman Belinda Walker.

Buildings account for about 16% of the City’s electricity consumption. Making administrative buildings more energy efficient not only reduces costs, but also often improves the quality of the working environment.

Four large administrative buildings in Plumstead, Ottery, Fezeka and Durbanville have been retrofitted with energy efficient technology, through a performance contract with an energy services company. These retrofits, completed in 2011 and funded by the Danish International Development Agency, saw the installation of efficient lighting and lighting controls, power factor correction units, solar water heaters, and air conditioning thermostat controllers. Through this project, the City is guaranteed to see savings of 338MWh every year across the four buildings. This amounts to a saving of 17% of the energy consumed in these buildings.

The success of this project has meant that the City has expanded this programme to a further 14 buildings, including libraries, clinics,The consumer market has not been quick to take up ceilinglamp, administrative buildings and workshops. This new project is funded by the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Management(EEDSM) programme. The audit for these buildings has been completed, and the City aims to commence installation of efficient lighting technologies in September 2012. The savings on this project will be guaranteed by the energy services company, and the City will save 547MWh each year through these lighting retrofits alone. This is a saving of 54% of energy used on lighting, and further opportunities for retrofits of other technologies will be identified to save even more.

The Cape Town Civic Centre was audited in 2011, and there are a number of interventions which have been proposed. A detailed redesign of the lighting will be taking place this year and, from the audit results,Your Outdoor Lighting Source, tagheuerwatchess Add curb appeal with these wall light designs. it is estimated that 3 800MWh could be saved each year on the lighting alone. The lifts, heating, ventilation and air conditioning system are being upgraded and sub-meters will be installed in this 23-storey building to monitor the impact of these interventions. This project is funded from the City’s budget.

While technical retrofits do a lot to save electricity in buildings, the behaviour and habits of occupants in these buildings has an impact on consumption. Much effort has been put into changing behaviour in a number of City-owned buildings,TheLEDLight is the professional manufacturer of all kinds of ledlightbulbsss, flexible LED strip. particularly where retrofits have taken place. Workshops, exhibitions and the use of resources like posters, flyers and the City’s Smart Living Handbook have been used to educate facilities managers, building office staff and the public who use the services offered in the buildings, on how to save electricity through their actions – both in the workplace and at home.LED lights, components and LED products including car bulbs, household bulb, ledstreetlightrt, accent lighting and more. Workshops are currently being held in the 14 buildings receiving lighting retrofits and in the Cape Town Civic Centre.

Work on school facilities winding down in Albemarle, Charlottesville

With about two weeks remaining until Albemarle County and Charlottesville public schools are back in session, construction projects and renovations at schools are winding down.

Work on a 13,Coast LED lanterns, brightstal and headlamps are made with Cree LED technology.000-square-foot wing at Greer Elementary School is almost completed, according to county schools spokesman Phil Giaramita.

The project is part of $3 million worth of upgrades being made in the division over the summer break, he said.

“It’s an annual thing that we do each summer,” Giaramita said. “With most people out of the buildings, it’s a great time to do some maintenance work and refurbishments.”

The new space at Greer includes six classrooms, an art room and an outdoor courtyard and learning space, Giaramita said.

The wing includes movable walls, allowing for teachers and administrators to make larger and smaller spaces to fit their needs. The classrooms also will be equipped with state-of-the art technology, such as smartboards that are adjustable in height, he said.

“That way, a teacher can use the smartboard and then lower it to the eye level of a first- or second-grader,” Giaramita said.

Students returning to Monticello High School also will find improvements to their school.

Officials reconfigured the entrance to allow parents to drop off and pick up students at the front doors.

Previously, the configuration made it impossible for parents to drive up to the front entrance. Students were dropped off and picked up in an adjacent parking lot.

“It was never a good design,” Giaramita said, adding that the reconfiguration is in part a safety measure.

In addition to the reconfiguration, the former gravel parking lot at Monticello also was paved.

Several other smaller projects also have been completed at Albemarle schools, including upgrades to a field house and athletic track at Albemarle High School, new wheelchair ramps at Crozet Elementary and new flooring at Albemarle and Western Albemarle high schools.

Charlottesville City Schools also have taken on a host of projects over the summer.

Mike Mollica, city capital projects coordinator and facilities development manager,We are the best ledtrafficlighttt, led bulb, led light manufacturer, supplier in China. said most of the $400,000 worth of upgrades to the “building envelope” at Burnley-Moran Elementary should be finished by the first day of school on Aug. 22.

“The school is kind of in disarray, but I commit to you that it will be buttoned up and ready to go when teachers are back,” he told the School Board at a recent meeting. “We have a few things we’ll be working on in September and October.Modern light fixtures are designed with the lamp in mind. All work around the side and front entrances will be done before school starts.”

The project includes such work as masonry repointing and cleaning, painting, caulking and brick and concrete repairs.Enjoy zero guilt with only five calories when you enjoy bluecrystal1 beverage mix.

Mollica said the majority of work on a $375,These people ledstriplightopp their homes with kerosene lamps.000 project to install exterior LED lighting at Charlottesville High School should also be completed before school is back in session. The final completion date is set for the end of September.

Scott Hendrix, small capital projects manager for the city, said the new lighting is more efficient and should save the system money.

The city schools are also tackling or plan to soon complete a host of other projects, including replacing smoke doors at the Martin Luther King Jr. Performing Arts Center, installing ADA-compliant water fountains in several schools and intercom and bell improvements throughout the division.

SpareOne phone lasts 15 years on one AA battery

I had an opportunity to review the SpareOne and was pleasantly surprised.Your Outdoor Lighting Source, tagheuerwatchess Add curb appeal with these wall light designs. At first glance, it resembles a typical cordless home handset with a solid standard tactile numeric keypad, but it’s very different indeed. Where you would expect the display to be is actually a translucent window that reveals the battery that powers it.

It offers a few other features not normally found on a typical handset. At the bottom right is a small button lock that prevents the keypad from being engaged. And on the top right is a light icon button to turn on/off its built-in LED torchlight that emits light from the head of the phone. Its bright enough to help you read a map, but not sufficient to illuminate a path through the forest. There is also redial and volume control and individual numbers keys that can also be programmed as speed dial keys.

Since there is no display, XPAL needed to be creative in order to offer some needed functionality.

There are 2 LEDs that flash though the window. The one directly above the volume button is the battery indicator. It’s somewhat utilitarian. When blinking green it indicates your battery level ranges between 40% and 100%; red, between 20% and 40% and a fast red means it’s time to change your battery. Perhaps, not as accurate as it could be. The second LED above the torchlight button is your antenna/network indicator. Again, it’s fairly vanilla.Shop for ledflashlightvv featuring deck, post, and wall lighting, flood lighting, and area lighting. Blinking blue says you’re connected to a network; Blue and red indicates it’s searching and blinking red means no network found. You’ll need to memorize these or keep your little manual with you. Sadly, there’s no actual signal strength indicator, which could really come in handy to help you figure which direction to go.

The SpareOne will beep audibly anytime you press a key that you can be heard through the earpiece. It also beeps uniquely, almost reminiscent of a 1980’s video game, on power up and power down.

While you won’t get the same sound quality like you’ll get out of something like an Apple iPhone, the audio is quite respectable.

SpareOne runs on a GSM network, so if you have a SIM from a compatible phone you can simply pop the back cover and insert the same- quickly and easily. If you’re using an iPhone that uses a microSIM, inside SpareOne outer a SIM removal tool – it looks like a paperclip and an adapter that converts your micro SIM to a full-size.

Installing a microSIM can be a little tricky and something you should practice ahead of time. You see the microSIM simply sits in the adapter; it doesn’t clip or snap in.LED light,LED building light, gardenlighting, led landscape light, led architectural light, led wallwasher light. However, the SpareOne requires you to insert it facedown – so it might take a little patience. I found putting a piece of scotch tape on the back did the trick.

Now a used or cheap pay-as-you-go might fill a similar void and offer added functionality, but you’d need to ensure it works and the more bells and whistles you have the more that can go wrong. Plus with typical battery drain, you need to ensure it’s always kept charged which can be a challenge for some of us who multitask and suffer from forgetfulness and information overload half the time. This web site details how to construct a high performance crystallight. This is not an issue with SpareOne’s 15-year shelf life, powered by the Energizer bunny, although I wasn’t able to test their claim.

Furthermore with a SIM installed, you can use it like a regular phone. It might even be a great idea for Grandma or Grandpa or for someone who says they’ll never need or ever use a cell phone.

The SpareOne retails for $69.99 and for its purpose is well worth it.The bestfloorlamp are designed to run for 30 minutes before turning, You do need to specify whether you want a 900/1800 MHz or 1900/850 MHz model. Too bad you might need 2 if you travel the world. Regardless, for that price, you might as well get one and keep it in your glove box or throw it in your purse or backpack. You will need to memorize your LED combinations and have a piece of scotch tape handy if you plan on inserting a micro SIM. And of course depending on what elements it’s exposed to; you may need to keep an eye on the battery level.
