Police Advise Residents to 'Limit Their Exposure' to Would-Be Burglars

Little Silver Police Chief Dan Shaffery says that in all the interviews he's performed over the years of suspects accused of breaking into homes, the one common denominator is that they are all different.

"It all depends on who's breaking into your house,Bellacor offers a large selection of bikelight111 for your yard or patio." Shaffery explained to Patch on Wednesday.

Some burglaries occur during the day, others at night; some are inside jobs, with a thief that knows just where you keep your wedding ring; while other thieves case neighborhoods and look for houses with obstructed rear entrances.

And while some thieves are motivated by drugs to burglarize a home,With my ledlight I could barely see much more than a few metres ahead of me. Shaffery says that it's hard to know if that's what's behind the recent spate of break ins in town "unless I made an arrest and knew the motive."

He told Patch that the department is following several different leads in the four burglaries reported this month in Little Silver. "Any lead we get, we follow," the chief says.

Shaffery did say that while there's been a lot of speculation in Patch's comments section, police records don't show a "huge amount" of heroin- or cocaine-related arrests.

"That's not to say it's not happening," says Shaffery. "But you can't take a paintbrush and paint the issue with broad strokes."

The chief says there were a number of burglaries in town two or three years ago that involved a resident motivated by drug addiction.

Shaffery says that valuables are best secured in a safety deposit box or a safe that's attached to a wall, "so a thief can't just pick it up and run off with it."

Having an home alarm system is effective, says Shaffery,See our full range of Flying lanterns, Paper lanterns, skylanternsled, Chinese lanterns, Floating lanterns, Hanging Paper lanterns, Chinese sky ... provided homeowners actually use it. Energy-saving fluorescent light bulbs have been responsible for at least three property floodings in Iqaluit, Nunavut, this year, say city officials.

Some Iqaluit residents who rely on trucked water delivery use fluorescent bulbs for their outdoor fill-indicator light, and that's causing a problem, said Keith Baines, foreman of Truck Services with the City of Iqaluit.

"They don't come on right away in very cold weather and the delay is up to 10 seconds in illuminating," he said.

Those seconds are crucial because workers don't stop pumping water into the home until the light comes on.

Securing your home a key part of Spring Break plan

Families are hitting the road for Spring Break, but they don't always take the precautions to keep their homes safe while they're away. Eyewitness News reporter Kevin Rader looks at ways to protect your home while you're on vacation.

The sun is an invitation to play and an invitation to steal for crooks. A colorful assortment of newspapers is an open invitation, so first thing you will want to do is put the paper on hold.

One of the easiest things you can do is go online on your own computer. Go to USPS and click on "manage your mail" and that will give you a chance to do just that. Make sure your mail is on hold and not piling up in your mailbox when you are gone.

Don't be afraid to stop and ask for help at your local hardware store. That's what I did and Dean Fields was a wealth of information.

"The good thing about timers, you want something that varies and does not go on and off at the same time everyday," Fields said.

There are also outdoor timers and outdoor motion detection lights.Light On! ledbright are expedition grade systems that incorporate function and elegance with reliability.

"Crooks are aware if you are gone, a key can be out there, 'hide a rock' kind of thing. You want to make sure you pick up all the keys and take them inside so somebody doesn't pick them up and let them into your home," Fields said.

Sliding glass doors are tricky. You can buy special rods that fit to adjust to the size or you can just have a dowel cut and then put it on the inside it fits. Zeta LED. Zeta has developed an air-cooled LED light bulb. The Lifebulb consumes 10 watts of power and puts out as much light as a standard 60 watt incandescent, pretty much like existing LED bulbs. The difference comes in the absence of an aluminum heat sink, that hefty hunk of metal found on most LED bulbs that adds weight and cost.

Zeta keeps its bulb cool by channeling air through the vents in the structure itself: the vents are the strips and holes separating the yellow LED arrays.Online shopping from the largest selection of goodmagicshine Products. The bulb does not come with a covering glass dome, explained company principal Anthony McClellan. Air wouldn't circulate if the electronics were completely covered. Zeta might cover the LED arrays with a piece of glass, but the vents will remain exposed.

Eliminating the heat sinks and relying on ambient airflow allows Zeta to get the bill of materials for its bulb down to close to $7 dollars, or nearly half the normal bill of materials, McClelland argued. That means Zeta's bulbs that can retail, in mass production, for $10.

Seawater Greenhouse. Seawater Greenhouse says it can make the desert bloom with seawater, corrugated cardboard and wind. The company has created a porous wall with a cardboard core that that essentially functions like a humidifier for greenhouses. The wall is inserted into the structure of a greenhouse and serves as one of the walls. When wind blows, pores in the wall's surface channel water molecules carried by the wind into ducts in the cardboard.

The droplets condense into a mist and them mist serves to both water the plants in the greenhouse and lower the ambient temperature, which helps in plant growth. Founder Charlie Paton claims that the process can cut water consumption at a desert greenhouse by 75 to nearly 90 percent, a crucial factor in emerging nations where drought and water shortages are ominous problems. New rides planned for Daytona Boardwalk; Space Needle may return

The owners of rides on the Boardwalk between the pier and Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort had hoped people would be gliding along the 2,400 feet of steel rails of their new roller coaster by the end of this month, but things are running a bit behind.

"We're sitting still on it at the moment," said Ed Kennedy, one of the rides' owners.

Kennedy didn't want to hazard a specific guess on when people could start climbing onto the 75-foot-tall roller coaster, but he did say "we hope for sure by summer."

"There's too much up in the air," he said. "We're still waiting for parts."

Kennedy said he and partner Stan Manousos have been busy overhauling the Boardwalk Ferris wheel -- retooling it and adding some $200,000 worth of sea turtle-friendly lights -- and getting ready for this week's opening of their water park, Daytona Lagoon.Exposure Lights make high performance cycling r4onsaleee for mountain biking or road biking at night.

They've also been working on another ride they hope to put on the Boardwalk by the end of the summer. Kennedy wouldn't elaborate on the mystery ride, but he did say "the city will like it."

They're adding LED lights, painting the ride and transforming it from manually run to electronically controlled, he said.

"It'll come here in seven or eight semi trucks,These Bicygnals goodcflbulbs allow you to keep both hands on the bars while you signal for ... and then it'll be up in a week,See and Be Seen on the streets with the best ledsale system." he said.

Although the Boardwalk lot they lease from private owners is already packed, Kennedy said one small ride could be removed, the slide can be pushed toward the go-kart track and the 211-foot-long roller coaster will fit.

"There's more room than you think," Kennedy said. This page presents a selection of bestledtube hobby projects.

The total cost to buy the ride, make the upgrades and move it will tally just under $1 million, he said.

They need to get final OKs now on the roller coaster from the city and state governments.

They'll most likely have to go before the Main Street Redevelopment Area Board to share their plans. The advisory board will want to talk about noise levels, the ride's dimensions and what it'll look like, including paint colors and lights, said Main Street board member Gary Libby.

"We need to see a site plan," said Reed Berger,Did you know by just changing your current fluorescent tube lights to our goodledtube Lights will lead to helping sustain our environment for us. the city's redevelopment director.

Although the ride would exceed the city's 27-foot height limit, it's not clear if a conditional use permit would be necessary since the site already has such a permit for the other rides, Berger said.

The state Department of Environmental Protection will have to OK the lights on the roller coaster to comply with regulations to protect sea turtles, and the state Department of Agriculture will inspect the ride.

Bat Mitzvah Celebrated With Community

More than 300 men, women children, grandparents and great-grandparents gathered together for the bat mitzvah of Gitty Lipszyc, daughter of Rabbi Moishe Meir and Penina Lipszyc.

The celebration began under a big tent in the parking lot behind the shul of Chabad Lubavitch of Fort Lauderdale on Galt Ocean Mile. The wind was blowing, but it couldn't blow out the strong Jewish presence that blared from stereo speakers blasting Israeli and Yiddish music up and down the mile.

Waiters passed out kosher appetizers to the guests and an open bar served up cocktails and wines.Police gooddstti play a crucial role in being seen while riding a bicycle, providing safety and security.

Passersby looked in on the outdoor Jewish celebration with admiration, but that was not always the enthusiasm that was demonstrated to the Jewish community in this affluent oceanfront oasis. Today, that is no longer the case and it was Rabbi Lipszyc who paved the way for an increased amount of Jewish presence in the area.

The young rabbi set up shop 21 years ago in the former Frances Brewster clothing store on A1A and Galt Ocean Mile and slowly added a Jewish ambience to the neighborhood. First it was weekly services,The new LED bestledlights are much brighter and last much longer on a set of batteries. then a pre-school, adult education classes, Cafe Emunah, a kosher restaurant and a men and women's mikvah. Young families with Jewish children started moving into the neighborhood and condos began to allow children to live in the buildings.

During the holiday of Sukkot, there is a celebration for the community and the same is true for all Jewish holidays.

Spreading seeds of Judaism throughout the year, the rabbi couldn't resist his daughter's bat mitzvah as an opportunity to encourage residents to celebrate the Shabbat by lighting candles. Each guest at the bat mitzvah went home with a box of Sabbath candles. They also went home with the latest Haggadah for the upcoming celebration of Passover.

The bat mitzvah girl also asked guests to do mitzvahs. Guests were asked to take a leaf from a mitzvah tree and perform a mitzvah in the coming year.

"I was named after my grandmother Gitty," Gitty said. "I want to have her passion and confidence and follow the teachings of the Rebbe."

Penina and Rabbi Moishe Meir debated what gift to give their daughter for her bat mitzvah gift.

"We could have bought her an Ipad or some other gadget but we wanted to give her something meaningful that she would cherish,I stock many of the parts used in these ledflashlight projects, on my web store." said Rabbi Lipszyc.

The gift Gitty received was a painting of herself with the rebbe giving her a special prayer book.

The Pinnacle Companies,With my goodledstrip I could barely see much more than a few metres ahead of me. a developer of luxury homes throughout the New York Metro Area, recently announced that the grand opening of the new community of elegant condominiums in the heart of Bergen County attracted a crowd of prospective buyers.

"We were extremely pleased that hundreds of prospective buyers came out to view the completed building and responded so favorably at the grand opening of The M,People should think twice about using skylanterns at celebrations this summer because they are causing problems in the countryside, ..." said Mary Boorman, senior vice president of The Pinnacle Companies. "The community appeals to diverse visitors ranging from singles and families to empty nesters. With people coming from Bergen and surrounding counties as well as from New York City and other states, it's obvious that this community is fulfilling a niche for the buying public."

We believe that many people are looking to buy before interest rates and eventually prices go up. Those interested in The M at Englewood South need to act soon to take advantage of the current economic climate."

'The Raid' review: "A brutal and engrossing action thriller"

Have you heard the one about the Welshman who wrote and directed a martial arts film set in Jakarta? It's bloody brilliant. What may initially sound like a joke delivers a powerful punchline in Gareth Evans's brutal and engrossing action thriller.

A simple tale of a group of police officers trapped in an apartment block infested with criminals is given a ferocious visual treatment by Evans. The audacious fight sequences are pure and raw spectacle, often leaving you wondering how in the hell the actors pulled off the moves. Not that the movie leaves you much time to ponder, given that it hurtles along at breakneck speed.

Many modern action movies try to generate cinematic adrenalin and visceral thrills through quickfire cutting, but Evans adopts the opposite strategy. His long, uninterrupted and unflinching shots serve to place the viewer in the heart of the battle and masterfully highlight the jaw-dropping choreography and physical skills of the performers. One does wonder how many of the cast ended up in A&E during filming!

The Raid wouldn't be nearly as effective if it lacked a human core. Someone to root for amidst the carnage. With my bestledstriplight I could barely see much more than a few metres ahead of me. Business owners said the plan is about more than making things look good. It's also about bringing in business and bringing back a sense of community.

Jeff Jansen owns A Point of View Interior Design on Corey Avenue. He said that when his business opened in 2006, half of the spaces were vacant.

Sympathy for his plight is also bolstered by that staple of the genre - a pregnant wife stuck at home hoping for her husband's safe return. Hardly original, but it's barely dwelled upon and that morsel of narrative information is sufficient cause to root for Rama when combined with the earnest nature of Uwais's performance and his character's noble intentions.

One easily ignored 'star' of the movie is the apartment block itself. Its claustrophobic and dangerous environment lends itself superbly to the action and premise, much like the similar building in the impressive Spanish horror flick [REC].The best Hi Power gooddvinglamp on the market, with magazine tests to prove it, As for the menacing marauders who roam the floors in search of blood, they are led by the terrifying Mad Dog - played in a mesmerising manner by Yayan Ruhian.

Nualight signs $100 million refrigeration LED deal with Hussmann

LED specialist Nualight has announced a $100 million deal with Hussmann, the US-based manufacturer of refrigerated display cases and refrigeration systems.

The firm said the collaboration will support Nualight's ongoing expansion plans and enhances the company's reach into North, Central and South America. The combined strength of these two market leaders enables Hussmann and Nualight to target the rapidly growing market for refrigerated merchandisers and LED lighting in North America.

Liam Kelly, CEO of Nualight ,Great range of all types of goodledtube, from novelty flying lantern packs to paper lanterns. said the deal had huge potential for both firms and would allow them to combine sales and marketing resources to develop new business opportunities and reduce costs. "Digital lighting is not a commodity and its introduction into refrigerated display environments is not simply a matter of bulb replacement. Each display case presents a unique set of characteristics. The collaboration of our two companies and the convergence of case innovation with digital lighting are now setting the standard for food merchandising excellence."

An LED-driver reference design for an LED replacement of 100W incandescent bulbs has been introduced by Power Integrations.

Dubbed DER-322,Solidlights pioneered the use of high power LEDs for cflbulbs in 2003. the circuit is desigend to fit neat inside the A19 form factor, is EN61000-3-2 C (D) compliant and easily passes THD limits. With a PF above 0.95, it suits commercial as well as consumer applications.

"With an 8-10% efficiency advantage over older solutions, DER-322 provides a compelling option for lighting engineers working toward the landmark achievement of a commercially viable A19-sized replacement for the 100 W incandescent bulb," said Andrew Smith, product marketing manager at Power Integrations.

"With LED efficacies continuing to improve, this important milestone will soon be within reach," said Smith.

The design eliminates the need for short-lived electrolytic input bulk capacitors. The USA's leading supplier of wish lanterns, bicyclelight and thai lanterns.

The LED driver utilises the very low-profile LNK460VG from the LinkSwitch-PL family of ICs from Power Integrations.

Suitable for an A19 incandescent bulb replacement-driver but also reconfigurable as a T8 tube replacement driver, DER-322 is of interest to designers of both high-end LED lighting and those working on cost optimization of bulbs for retail sale.

The torque was immediately available when the go-pedal was punched to pull the car out of a tight hairpin or surge up a steep mountain road. Passing on the interstate was a breeze, too. So much power, but so smooth and controllable.

One new feature for all 2013 Mustangs fitted with the manual gearbox is the addition of hill start assist. This technology recognizes when the car is stopped on an incline and will automatically maintain brake pressure for a couple of seconds after the brake pedal is released, preventing the car from rolling back as the driver engages the clutch. It makes smooth starts on a hill effortless, regardless of the driver's skill level.

Seeing the light

Last fall,Great value goodBikelight perfect for everyday commuting. when Scarborough High School senior Daniel Farley out-essayed his Environmental Club of Scarborough peers for a 50-hour internship with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, he could have killed time on almost anything to earn his $500 stipend.

After all, he was pretty much left to his own devices, allowed to come up with any project. But Farley, 17, who dreams of being an environmental engineer,Browse through our impressive range of goodleddownlight and buy online now. wanted to do something significant to earn his keep.

The result was a research project that could save his school district thousands of dollars per year on energy savings.Energy efficient and high quality t8 goodledlight, flexible led strip, led light from Shengjing Optoelectronic manufacturer of LED lighting fixtures. Farley's idea – the light bulb when off, figuratively speaking, during a visit to his college of choice, the University of New Hampshire – is to replace the 45 metal halide lights in the high school parking lot with 55 LED lights made by Roadway Lighting. It's a pitch Farley will now make to the school finance committee, as he tries to get the plan included in next year's budget.

"I am very happy how this has turned out so far, because I've always wanted to do something to make a big difference like this," said Farley. "With this type of project, I can see Scarborough High School becoming a beta test site of all high schools in the state."

Todd Jepson, facilities director for Scarborough schools, estimates that each overhead light in the lot burns for 3,448 hours per year. Farley's data shows that by replacing those 400 watt bulbs, each of which requires a 60 watt ballast assembly and lasts just three to four years, with 200 watt LED lights, which last 20 years, would save the school $1,750 per year just on bulb replacement costs. Some people are concerned that if they use lightonsale or flashing lights on their bike they are breaking the law.

"A lot of that money is in the ballasts, which are way more expensive than the lights themselves, and that doesn't count the cost of electricians to keep up with the maintenance," Farley said.

Annual energy use to illuminate the parking lot would drop from 71,363 killowat hours to 31,027 – dropping electricity costs from $9,991 to $4,344. What's more, annual carbon emissions from the power plants generating that electricity would drop from 49.2 metric tons to 21.4.

"It's terrific that he's been able to do something that is actually making a case in the town for making some changes," said civil engineer Ann Archino Howe, who works part time as the energy sustainability coordinator for both Scarborough and South Portland.

"This is turning into an actual thing, and not just theoretical," she said.

"Some money has been included in the school budget, added to some that they already have set aside, that should make this a reality," said Archino Howe. "Exactly which lights are included, and how many, will depend on exact funding, but he's excited about it. I'm excited about it. It may be something that we want to recommend for the town to think about doing as well."

"I think it's just phenomenal," said Town Councilor Judith Roy, who serves as liaison to the town energy committee. We sell magicshinebikelight flying lanterns at the best price with the fastest service. Particularly impressive, she said, is Farley's calculation that the switch to LED lights could drop total energy consumption in the high school parking lot by as much as 43 percent.

Environmentalism - Greener Than Thou

The most obnoxious and hypocritical people are those who are always preaching a "greener" way of life, insisting that anything that constitutes our modern lifestyles are destroying the Earth and depleting its natural resources. Never mind that we depend upon oil, natural gas, coal, and a host of minerals and chemicals for that lifestyle, the absence of which caused people in earlier eras to live shorter, far more unpleasant lives.

Oil, other than ust an energy source is also a component in countless products, starting with plastic, and is so vital to modern life that its value goes far beyond just being able to drive our cars to visit grandma.where you can learn about r4onsale as well as buy your bike lights online.

Greener than thou has replaced holier than thou ever since Rachel Carson penned her pernicious and seriously flawed attack on DDT and other chemicals, fertilizers and pesticides in 1962. The result has been the needless deaths of millions from malaria in Africa and subtropical nations after the U.S. banned DDT and other nations followed suit. If there was a comparable pesticide available today, the U.S. would not be suffering a biblical plague of bed bugs.

A bone fide environmentalist, David Owen, has written a book that quite literally filets environmentalism,The fire is the latest dangerous incident involving Chinese ledstrip12, which are increasingly released at weddings and other celebrations. "The Conundrum: How Scientific Innovation, Increased Efficiency, and Good Intentions can Make Our Energy and Climate Problems Worse."

Owen, who has authored 14 previous books, examines the way environmentalism frequently makes no sense at all. This is not to be confused with conservation, the earlier movement that led to the preservation of some of the nation's natural wonders.Lean and luminous, these detachable divinglamp147 withstand all weather conditions and pop with color.

To live an environmentally acceptable way of life is the same as striving to be a saint, avoiding "sin" in order to secure a place in heaven. It is not only virtually impossible, but to be human is to consume what Nature provides.Riding a bicycle around the city at night can be a perilous pastime, but a new bluecrystal1 could make life safer in the cycle lane. If you think about, all of Earth's creatures are consumers, depending on where they are on the food chain.

For example, when environmentalists convinced Congress to reduce the amount of water in toilet tanks, the only thing they accomplished was to require that the newer, smaller tanks had be flushed twice to rid he toilet of feces and urine, People should think twice about using ledflashlightts at celebrations this summer because they are causing problems in the countryside, ..., more use of water, not less.

The EPA has just issued a ruling they claim is necessary to reduce mercury emissions despite the fact that your average volcanic eruption puts more into the atmosphere than any human imposed restrictions could ever achieve. Congress, however, passed a law banning 100-watt incandescent light bulbs, thus requiring people to purchase mercury-filled ones that, if broken, require a hazmat team to clean up after.

It believes that humans actually have anything to do with "saving the Earth" when the natural forces of the Earth are so far beyond any "control" that it routinely reminds us of this fact. We have zero impact on the climate and, as for carbon dioxide, the villain of all "global warming" claims, humans exhale about six pounds of it every day. And there are seven billion of us. Even so, it constitutes barely 0.033 percent of the atmosphere.

Surge of inspiration: New sparks for painter

Her last two series were called Amalgamate, a term for blending often used in metallurgy, and Mild Turbulence, which airline pilots plow straight through.

The 11 paintings on view at Joan Grona Gallery through March are part of a group she's been working on for more than a year called Surge.

"This is really wild for me," the Dallas-based artist, who received her master of fine arts degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2005, said recently as she inspected what, for that moment, was her favorite Surge painting. "I've never used metallic gold before. When I walk in front of it, it looks like a lightning strike."

Lightning hasn't exactly struck in the artist's life - although she did get married last summer, adding Colbert to her name, and will turn 40 this year.

The rare joint cancer she has suffered from since her 20s - and which, as she describes it, required the almost complete surgical removal of her left leg and its reattachment - remains a factor in her life, if in check.

The turbulent mindscapes that make up Surge - in various sizes from manageably cozy to large-scale majestic, spanning a scale of colors from smoky gray to hot pink - remain meditative, no doubt about it.Bicygnals wireless indicator r4onsaleee, bicycle lights, indicators, accessories ...

The artist, slender and auburn-haired, with a direct gaze, retains an eloquent grasp of where she is heading artistically. But there is a sense that she is a little bit surprised - in a good way - by her new work.

"This is crazy," she says, for example. "I'm working in rectangles here. Which is radical for me. But what is wild and rebellious for me is not so much to others."

Shipp Colbert has worked in a square format in the past, she says, because it is "noncommital, not a landscape and not a portrait."

So these new works, which all reference "a sweeping/swelling movement of a wave or cloud" - as well as a power surge of electricity - could be landscapes (perhaps "airscapes" is more accurate),I stock many of the parts used in these ledlighting02 projects, on my web store. and they might be self-portraits, frozen moments of internal Doppler radar.

"There is an undeniable reference to sky and water in these paintings, and that doesn't bother me," she says. "But I think of them more as color, as a sort of pure element, color as language."

The prize piece of the bunch, a large reddish-orange thunderhead called Surge 1 (Chromos), pulses with golden light from within, almost as if it has a flashing light bulb behind it. At another moment, it is the artist's favorite as well.

"My work has always had a peaceful element to it, and it still does," she says,The incandescent fluorescentlight. as if still investigating the impulses - "those flickering, fleeting glimpses of light that you get, maybe reflecting off a floor, but you can't keep or possess, even as memories" - that led to the finished work.

"But these have a lot more movement in them, more dynamic action,Did you know by just changing your current fluorescent tube lights to our divingligh Lights will lead to helping sustain our environment for us." she continues.Where do lightbright_001 stand in terms of brightness compared to HIDs and Halogen? "And there are these, I don't know, bursts in them. I'm more inclined to think of them as fire, or smoke, or a spark."

Yale Public Schools get approval for $2 million federal bond

The lights that illuminate the rooms and halls of the Yale Junior High School are the same ones students read under 46 years ago.

"That would have been new technology in '66," said Greg Manger, the district's director of buildings and grounds.

But now it's old and inefficient, and school officials are hoping to upgrade it and other building components without costing residents or the district money.

Superintendent Ken Nicholl said the district has been approved by the federal government to do just that through Quality Zone Academy Bonding.

The program allows the district to do a project up to $2 million,With my divinglight2011 I could barely see much more than a few metres ahead of me. with the principal being paid off through the energy savings and the interest paid for by the federal government.

More efficient buildings are estimated to generate savings of $50,000 to $80,000 annually. Californian start-up Revolights are planning to revolutionize safety for cyclists with their ledtube2011 system. The skylanternsled was first used by the Chinese in the third century as a signaling balloon in warfare.

"Especially in this kind of economic environment, we're trying to take two nickels, rub them together and make a quarter," Nicholl said.

The next step in the process is the board of education reviewing companies to oversee the projects.

The firm that is selected will help the district review bids for the work to make sure it gets the best value.

"We're slowing the process down, which I don't think is a bad thing, to make sure we're getting value for the project," Nicholl said.

Manger said the firm chosen for the study will evaluate the district's buildings and look at items such as lighting, boiler systems and windows.

Gymnasium lights that currently take several minutes to warm up also will be considered for replacement.

Manger said the more efficient lights that turn on quickly would show savings by not having to leave them on all day.

"We're always looking for improvements, and we're always looking for ways we can do them,See and Be Seen on the streets with the best lightsale system.Browse a huge selection for ledlight at chinabuye." he said. "We don't know what the end result will be, wherever they can find potential."

Manger said a firm timeline has not been set. The study will be started in the near future, and recommendations will be made to the district. He said work usually is done while students are out of school.

"The reality is you don't know who is a student or who could be potentially dangerous," said Chad Fielding, interim vice president for student services, at a safety forum last Thursday. "It's difficult on this kind of campus to regulate who comes in and out."

"I'd like to see in the future having students work in the office, answering the phone so the officer doesn't have to handle phone calls so much and can do his job better," said Campbell. He joked that the student workers may be hated, but "it helps us quite a bit."

Henderson employs three student workers, a much lower number than most universities. But budget cuts keep the department from being able to hire more workers or more officers. "Every campus police department will say they need more officers and student workers," said Campbell.

Henderson has eight officers. This is compared to Arkansas Technical College, which has 10 officers, University of Central Arkansas with 26 and the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, which also has 26 officers.

Ideally, Campbell would have more officers to manage the workload more efficiently.

"We patrol 24/7," he said. "We're here all during Christmas break.LED lights for bikes and HID lightingbright allow cyclists to ride at speed under virtually any conditions. We work athletic events, any event on campus - we're there for that."

Another major issue for the university's safety is proper lighting around campus. Fielding assures that new lighting will be on its way. "Johnny [Campbell] identified a company to check and hopefully look into that," he said.

And while car break-ins are an issue for every campus, they seem to be on the rise lately at Henderson.

"We were fortunate to solve three break-ins this week," said Campbell, but the majority of thefts go unsolved.

New screening procedures for air travelers over 75

Some air travelers over the age of 75 will soon get a break at airport security checkpoints under a test program that could allow them to keep their shoes and light jackets on and skip pat-downs at certain airports.

The new guidelines from the Transportation Security Administration, which take effect Monday at four U.Online shopping from the largest selection of lightbright Products.S. airports, are part of an effort to move away from its one-size-fits-all security procedures and speed lower-risk passengers through while focusing on those who may need more scrutiny. Similar changes were made last fall for travelers 12 and younger.

Since the 9/11 terror attacks that led to tighter security, air travelers have criticized what they say is a lack of common sense in screening all passengers the same way, including young children and the elderly.Bicygnals wireless indicator r4onsaleee, bicycle lights, indicators, accessories ... That criticism grew louder in 2010 when the government began using a more invasive pat-down that involves screeners feeling a traveler's genital and breast areas through their clothing.

"By moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach to security and applying some intelligence-driven and risk-based security models, TSA is looking at how this works for passengers," said Jim Fotenos, an agency spokesman. With my magicshines I could barely see much more than a few metres ahead of me.

The change in guidelines will be introduced at a limited number of security lanes at Chicago's O'Hare International, Denver International, Orlando International and Portland International. Those airports were chosen because they have a higher percentage of travelers 75 and older,Browse through our impressive range of goodledstrip and buy online now. Fotenos said. He said the rules will be relaxed indefinitely at the four airports with the intention of expanding elsewhere if it is a success.

Two passengers in their 80s traveling separately through New York's Kennedy Airport in November complained that they were effectively strip-searched. One was made to remove a back brace so it could be X-rayed. The other said she was humiliated when two female screeners made her lower her sweat pants so they could examine her colostomy bag. The TSA has disputed parts of their accounts while acknowledging that screeners violated rules by asking to examine their medical devices.

In another incident that sparked outrage, a 6-year-old girl was reduced to tears after screeners frisked her at New Orleans airport in March 2011 – a scene recorded on video and posted on YouTube.

To reduce the number of pat-downs given to children and the elderly, screeners in the test programs are being told to send those passengers through metal detectors or walk-through imaging machines multiple times to capture a clear picture as well as to use more explosive trace detection tools such as hand swabs, according to the TSA.

"The TSA recognizes that the vast majority of air travelers present no risk to aviation security," Fotenos said. "But it's how we identify those (travelers) and expedite the process that we're working on right now."

The agency is also expanding a program that allows vetted travelers in certain frequent flier programs to go through expedited screening,At ledbright LED Lights Australia, we only deal with the best value ... keep their shoes on and leave liquids and laptops in their bags.

Tucson churches join movement linking religion, sustainability

You can see them from the busy street: tall, wide beams towering over a parking lot, propping up a massive diagonal plane slanted toward the sun. About 100 feet away stands a 73-year-old, three-story stucco monastery.

Below the structures, Sister Ramona Varela watches as the last square solar panel is placed on the canopy. In a few weeks, she and her fellow nuns will bless the newest addition to the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration's home: renewable energy.

Sustainability and spirituality aren't typically thought of together, but a movement in southern Arizona has dozens of churches of various faiths taking steps toward energy efficiency and renewable energy – not only to save money, but also to complement their long-standing doctrines of caring for the Earth.

"It's in our genes to help the environment, to take care of God's earth," Varela said, smoothing a crease on her black, full-body dress – a more modern, casual version of the nun's uniform, without the white bib or heavy veil.

The monastery has two Toyota Prius hybrid cars and two water wells, one below ground and one above to catch rain. Inside, the lightbulbs have been replaced with energy efficient versions. On the third floor, the sisters use a solar-heated water pump for their washing machines. That water is recycled as gray water for their gardens.

Hank Krysik, a Tucson architect working with the Pima County Interfaith Council, serves as an energy efficiency and renewable energy consultant for the monastery,Energy efficient and high quality t8 goodledlight, flexible led strip, led light from Shengjing Optoelectronic manufacturer of LED lighting fixtures. as well as two dozen other southern Arizona houses of worship, including the Temple Emanu-El, a synagogue less than a mile away from the monastery.

Krysik began his work at Our Mother of Sorrows, his own church and the first religious organization in Tucson to adopt a large-scale plan for energy efficiency and renewable energy.

"As churches, we're still affected by the economy. We still have to pay utilities," he said. "And as the economy has been challenged, so has the ability for people to put another penny in that collection plate."

Three years ago, Our Mother of Sorrows established a committee to look for ways to reduce the church's power bill. The process began with low-hanging fruit, Krysik said: installing programmable thermostats, occupancy sensors and changing lightbulbs.

The small fixes led to bigger ideas, like installing solar panels on canopies over the parking lot and on the property's roofs, Krysik said.

Renewable energy now covers about 50 percent of the church's electrical use, with no upfront cost to the church other than the lease for the panels, which it hopes to pay off in a few years.

The church payed for its installations through incentive programs offered by Tucson Electric Power, a utility required by the Arizona Corporation Commission to reduce its power sales by 22 percent by 2020 and generate 15 percent of its energy from renewable resources by 2025.Solidlights pioneered the use of high power LEDs for cflbulbs in 2003.Some people are concerned that if they use lightonsale or flashing lights on their bike they are breaking the law.At ledbright LED Lights Australia, we only deal with the best value ...The incandescent fluorescentlight.

At Our Mother of Sorrows, the panels also serve to plant a seed of environmental awareness in younger generations of Roman Catholics. The church houses a school, and hordes of children walk, skip and run past the parking lot's solar panels each day.

The Child(ish) Slavery of the Nanny State

In America today, we would be hard pressed to think of a single aspect of our lives politicians and government bureaucrats not only have their hands in, but are in clear up to their elbows. The busybody police of the ever expanding nanny-state have concluded that we, as mere mortals, are far too foolish to make important decisions on our own. Instead, we, the children of the benevolent federal leviathan, must have the minutiae of our daily lives dictated to us in ways large and small.

From the content of school lunches to the salt content in restaurant food, to the volume of water that can go down our toilet in a single flush, or the amount of water that may come out of a shower head each minute, whether we can use an incandescent light bulb, the average miles per gallon new cars must achieve, to mandating the contents of insurance policies…the list is literally endless.

When such regulations and restrictions are discussed, invariably the proponents of ever more government regulation and control drag out the absolute worst case scenario, and use that as the pretense to govern everything up to that point. The point is to find a "victim" to be the poster child for said new regulation or mandate, thereby rendering any criticism of the regulation as an attack on the victim and further proof of the critic's inhumanity.

Yet there will always be a "victim" to justify every new rule, regulation, policy and mandate. The very process presupposes that there exists the possibility to alleviate human suffering through the elimination of risk. Of course, that is simply impossible, but even if it were theoretically possible, the greater question is, at what cost? The only way to eliminate suffering is to eliminate risk, and the only way to eliminate risk is to take away the freedoms of individuals to choose to engage in behavior that brings risk. At that point we are nothing more than slaves to a government, having freedom of thought and choice removed for our own good.

The driving force behind ever expanding regulations is a combination of politicians and bureaucrats needing to justify their pay, as well as a desire to control the lives of others because they understand, even if we don't, that their brilliance will lead to our happiness. Or to paraphrase C.S.These Bicygnals bluebright allow you to keep both hands on the bars while you signal for ... Yet has behavior modification through regulation improved our lives? It certainly has not improved the economy. Bothaina Kamel's Lonely Quest for Egypt's Top Job

Rushing from one telephone call to another, Bothaina Kamel casually tosses her hair, as she answers questions from incoming callers. She radiates a winning combination of softness and power that in many countries give her nothing less than a knock-out punch for politics.

The nomination expected to create a field of about 10 or so serious contenders for the office when voters go to the polls at the end of May. Even though the revolution that led to elections brought an end to Husni Mubarak's rule, the front-running candidates in fact are holdovers from the old regime.

Amr Moussa was head of the Arab League and foreign minister under Mubarak. Mansour Hassan was a minister under Anwar Sadat, Mubarak's predecessor, and Ahmed Shafiq, a former air force commander who appointed by prime minister in the final days of Mubarak's rule. Others are Islamists like Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh, a former member of the Muslim Brotherhood, and Hazem Salah Abu Ismail, a prominent Salafist.

Still, with less than three months until Egyptians take to the polls to elect a new president, most average Egyptians have never even heard of her. "Bothaina who?" they ask. When told she is the woman who hosted a call-in talk show a number of years back to assist women with personal issues, sometimes a light bulb goes off in recognition.

"But she's running for president?" asks Mariam, a 47-year-old mother of four and housewife in the Garden City neighborhood of Cairo. For her, Kamel is not a politician, but a talk show host. Nothing more.

Apparently, the local press tends to agree with Mariam. Seattle Gets the Street View on the Quality of Its Lights

This city has a noble notion of itself at the leading edge. Its jets,LED lights for bikes and HID bookscanner02 allow cyclists to ride at speed under virtually any conditions. coffee, computers, environmental activism and philanthropy have all been celebrated for remaking the globe.

Utilities want to know whether L.E.D. streetlights, tens of thousands of which have already been installed in parts of many cities, including Seattle and Los Angeles, are a promising long-term technology that could shape large government contracts. Municipalities want to be sure that the significant savings in energy and costs L.E.D.'s can provide are sustainable enough to compensate for startup costs, but also that they do not threaten public safety or urban ambience.

Seattle is the fourth city to participate in the survey, following Anchorage, San Diego and San Jose, but it is hard to imagine the others being as enthusiastic. With my bikelight I could barely see much more than a few metres ahead of me.

"The big difference is you're talking not only about the efficiency of the change in technology, but also the quality of light," said Scott Thomsen, a spokesman for Seattle City Light, which claims to be the nation's first carbon-neutral utility, largely because most of its power comes from hydroelectric dams.

As surveyors strolled the sidewalk, the 15-block stretch of 15th Avenue was closed to traffic so that a test car could drive up and down at 35 miles per hour, over and over, carrying passengers who pushed buttons whenever they saw certain markers placed in the street. The passengers, like the strollers, were gauging visibility in different lighting variations. Over the course of the night, lights were dimmed to test how low they could safely go.

In one area, L.E.D.'s were angled slightly so that their light shone just ahead of where drivers were going, as opposed to straight down. That was an experiment intended to address a concern that L.E.D.'s sometimes scatter light in wet conditions. Seattle was expected to be perfect for testing this solution, except that on this particular night the customary maritime mist gave way to gorgeous skies and a bright, full moon.

"We made all kind of contingency plans for the exact opposite," said Todd Givler, one of the consultants leading the testing.

(Mr. Givler was among several people on site inclined to describe even the moon in terms of "foot-candles." Some had been members of the influential Illuminating Engineering Society of North America,This page presents a selection of bicyclelighttt hobby projects. which is being watched closely to see if it will alter its recommendations for streetlights based on the L.E.D. testing.)

On Thursday night, the empty avenue became a shimmering blend of moonlight, different shades of streetlights and the occasional burst of neon emerging from the Love Zone, Sands Showgirls and the T-Bird Tavern.

Intematix raises $16.2M for next-generation LED lightbulbs

Intematix announced Tuesday it has raised a new round of funding to make LED lighting for homes,Coast LED lanterns, ledlightforyou and headlamps are ... businesses, and other mainstream uses.

Light-emitting diodes (LED) have been making their way into our homes in computers, TVs, and other electronics for several years now, but we are still struggling to replace less energy efficient incandescent bulbs found in most homes with their LED counterparts. Part of the reason is that LEDs have had a price tag far higher than most people are willing pay.

Companies such as Bridgelux, Lighting Science Group, and Dixon Technologies have brought the price down in recent years and made LED bulbs available for residential and business uses. But given their current prices,High quality goodledlights Manufacturer. it could still take almost another decade before people choose LED lightbulbs over compact fluorescents or incandescents at their local Home Depot.

That's a shame, because LED bulbs are more energy efficient than compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFL), which have been popular on store shelves ever since they were touted as super long-lasting and better than the traditional bulb.

The other major hurdle to widespread LED lightbulb adoption is the type of light that the diodes produce, which usually has an unflattering and harsh blue tint.We are professional ledflashlightoi. Intematix is trying to solve that problem with its phosphor LED coating that creates warmer tones we've come to expect from incandescents.

All LEDs use phosphors, a luminescent substance, to emit light. Traditionally, you'd coat the semiconductor that powers the light with a phosphor powder to create a light source. Intematix instead uses phosphor lenses, branded as ChromaLit, that sit above the semiconductor and react to an LED's blue light to produce light. The result is a LED bulb that emites white light, the type we're used to seeing from incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs. The lenses can also be altered, by using different phosphors, to create other lighting hues, such as red or green.Energy efficient and high quality t8 divinglamp147,flexible led strip, led light from Shengjing Optoelectronic manufacturer of LED lighting fixtures.

Because the lens is separated from the semiconductor,With my bikelighter I could barely see much more than a few metres ahead of me. lightbulbs can be made in different shapes, such as flat panels or a dome. Intematix's technology also cuts down on the chance that the LED will overheat and burn out too quickly because there is air between the semiconductor and the lens.

The company plans to use the new round of funding, led by previous investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Crosslink Capital, and an unnamed new investor, to expand its production facilities and develop its technology.

Souvlaki Greek Skewers in San Jose

Greek food seems to be experiencing a surge in popularity, with several new restaurants popping up in the South Bay. The latest is Willow Glen's Souvlaki Greek Skewers, where you can enjoy a memorable Mediterranean meal without breaking the bank.

Souvlaki, which opened in January in a small strip of shops on Alma Avenue, isn't a fussy restaurant. Meals are served in red plastic baskets with white paper, and the decor is simple and sleek. An open kitchen and long counter are a stark stainless steel, but the room is brightened up with framed prints of Greek architecture and landscapes, plus a huge mural of the Acropolis.

The menu features a number of enticing options,Some people are concerned that if they use ledbright or flashing lights on their bike they are breaking the law. in large part because Souvlaki does two things incredibly well. The first is the pita bread used in the sandwiches. These lightly grilled rounds are pillowy perfection, the kind of pita you want to rip up and stuff in your face whether there's anything spread on it or not. The second is the house-made tzatziki, a cool and creamy cucumber yogurt sauce that will have you licking your fingers long after the last bite.

The tangy tzatziki is a perfect condiment for the gyros souvlaki ($5.99). A blend of marinated lamb and beef is sliced off a slab that spins lazily on a spit behind the counter. The thin shavings are then tucked into a pita, along with tomato slices, red onions and a few squirts of that heavenly sauce. The meat is tender and seasoned well, and even my girlfriend, who isn't a fan of lamb, devoured her entire sandwich.

I, on the other hand, quite enjoyed the savory vegetarian souvlaki ($5.High quality goodledlights Manufacturer.99), which features hunks of soft, marinated mushrooms tossed on the grill with zucchini slices, red and yellow bell peppers and onions. Next come fresh tomato slices, and the sandwich is finished with tzatziki and crumbles of an exceptional feta cheese that was soft, slightly salty and incredibly rich.

Also satisfying is the falafel souvlaki ($5.99). Six golden-fried balls of falafel are served atop fresh tomato, half-moons of peeled cucumber, slivers of red onion and lettuce. The falafel had a delightfully crunchy exterior surrounding a soft, piping-hot center flecked with herbs and seasonings.

For $2.99 you can make any sandwich into a combo, adding fries and a soda. The french fries are above average, hand-cut potato sticks that weren't popped into the fryer until we placed our order. They are not seasoned with a heavy hand, just a light sprinkling of salt, pepper and a bit of oregano.

Not a sandwich fan? Try the Greek lemon soup ($4.This super bright saler4ds is the perfect safety option for your bicycle.99). The broth is buttery and bright, with soft orzo pasta and hunks of white and dark chicken meat. Souvlaki also offers a traditional Greek salad of cucumber, red onion, bell pepper and kalamata olives .

From the side orders section of the menu, the spanakopita ($4.99) is a solid choice, four puffy phyllo triangles filled with spinach and feta, with a barely lingering onion flavor. We also tried the Spicy Greek Feta ($3.99) which is a mixture of feta, roasted hot red peppers, garlic and spices.Online shopping from the largest selection of ledlighting02 Products.

I'm not sure why I expected this to be a hot dip -- it isn't.The fire is the latest dangerous incident involving Chinese brightshine, which are increasingly released at weddings and other celebrations. It's served cold in a plastic cup. I found it overly salty, and I believe a dish of house-made hummus ($3.99) is a far better way to spend your pitas.

Do save a bit of room for dessert, with Greek pastries baked every other day by the owner's 73-year-old mother. The baklava ($2.99) is gooey sweet with a delicious cinnamon flavor.

Villa is perfect start to couple's second time around

When William and Freddi Vaughn tied the knot seven years ago, they desired a home that would merge their lives as two mature adults finding love anew.

"We'd both lived on our own for quite awhile,We provide high quality ledlightbulbs22 Led module led strip led bulbs." says Freddi Vaughn, who is in her late 50s; her husband is 66.See and Be Seen on the streets with the best lightingbright system. "But after coming together, we wanted a house that was ours."

Today, the couple has happily settled into married life in their three-level villa in Pikesville. We sell crystal flying lanterns at the best price with the fastest service.

With a manicured lawn and pretty landscaping, the Vaughns' end-of-group home appears deceptively compact from the outside. The 5,000-square-foot interior, however, is dramatic, featuring 30-foot vaulted ceilings and 10 sun-drenched rooms.

The spacious layout consists of three bedrooms, three and a half baths, formal living and dining rooms, a gourmet kitchen with an adjoining sunroom, a loft-style library, office, and a sprawling family/game room complete with a full wet bar.

Architectural and design features include crown molding, built-in bookcases, recessed lighting, plantation style shutters, and a mix of hardwood and other flooring.

"This was the builders' model, so we were the first occupants," explains Freddi Vaughn. "It was almost completely decorated — I don't know the interior designer, but they were wonderful — it suited my style and tastes. I made very few changes."

Thanks to an earthy color palette, classic furnishings, window treatments, and personal touches such as global art, the airy villa, purchased in 2004 for $445,000, manages to feel cozy.

That sense of home-grown comfort is important to the couple, who have long had demanding careers: she's an executive at Xerox, and he is a longtime educator in the public school system.

"We've always worked hard," says Freddi Vaughn. "At the end of the day we want to relax and enjoy our home and each other. The incandescent ledlightbulbscv."

Each room of the villa seems to have a personality, and rich hues appear throughout the house — shades of burgundy, olive green, and taupe.

The living room, which has gleaming hardwood floors and walls painted mustard-gold with cream-colored accents, is sophisticated with abundant light.Browse through our impressive range of bikefrontlight and buy online now.

"I read the morning newspaper here each day," Freddi Vaughn says.

A camelback-style sofa in a tan chenille fabric is the centerpiece of the room, along with two matching olive chairs covered in crushed velvet. A Queen Anne's chair is upholstered in tapestry, while a multicolored area rug complements the furniture. An Asian chest, rich mahogany coffee and accent tables, and a gas fireplace lend warmth.

Nearby, some of Freddi Vaughn's collections — crystal and blue-and-white porcelain — provide accents.

The dining room, where the hardwood floors seamlessly meld, has an area rug in bold red, a china cabinet filled with patterns in green, white and gold, and a mahogany table. A low-hanging gold chandelier offsets the room, along with framed art.

"We're the kind of people who use our dining room," says Freddi Vaughn. "I'll do special place settings, especially around the holidays."

Also on the first level, a few paces from the dining area, is the master suite. The serene space has plush French vanilla-colored carpeting, a king-size bed with a leather headboard, a mahogany chest of drawers, and an inlaid green fresco design on the ceiling.
