Factories urged to save power to stave off crisis

Factories nationwide are being urged to help cut power use by 10% or 1,200 megawatts a day in order to save the country from an energy crisis.

Industry permanent secretary Witoon Simachokedee yesterday said the ministry plans to ask for more than 70,000 factories accounting for 12,000 MW or 40% of Thailand's daily electricity consumption of 27,000 MW to cooperate. Factories on 40 industrial estates use a combined 3,700 MW of electricity a day.

"All factories inside and outside industrial estates should have developed their own energy-saving plan to avoid a power crisis in the long term," Mr Witoon said.Make a bold statement with our men's purlinmachine and pendants. The ministry's energy-saving plan includes reducing use of machines and changing electric lamps into compact fluorescent or LED lamps.

"We are only asking for their cooperation,The range of industrialextractors was developed to satisfy needs of all kinds of customers." said Mr Witoon. "But this gesture may be considered for factory licence renewal." The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand on Tuesday said April 5 and April 8-10 remain critical periods for the manufacturing sector.

Eastern Bangkok's Bang Chan Industrial Estate will likely be affected the most, as it is located in Min Buri district, one of three areas the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand has singled out as being at risk of brownouts. The other two areas are Lat Phrao district and Ratchadaphisek Road.

Some 81 factories operate at Bang Chan, mostly in the food sector. Blackouts are possible in the worst case, as the power reserve is estimated at 767 MW on April 5 when consumption is projected to peak at 26,300 MW.

Kyocera Tycom replaced problematic and expensive fluourescent lighting on their drill bit-producing CNC machines with Patlite CLK Series LED Worklights. Previously, the machines' dim fluorescent lights provided insufficient lighting, and the harsh environmental conditions led to significant repair and replacement time and costs. CLK LED worklights have dramatically improved lighting conditions to enhance productivity, while eliminating the repair and replacement issues that were commonplace with the previous solution. The home is served simultaneously by the elevatorsafetyss and the utility.

High illumination CLK Series LED Worklights feature unique micro-array lens technology that provide even light distribution with ultra-bright illuminance up to 2,100 lux, and maintain at least 70 percent of the initial brightness of 60,000 hours of operation. They feature a slim profile aluminum or stainless steel body that is resistant to water, oil and chemicals, which makes them easy to clean and simple to install, and provide low cost of ownership with minimal power consumption.

IP66G, IP67G and IP69K-rated CLK series LED worklights offer one-touch installation as standard – users simply slide the CLK series onto the mounting bracket and lock it in place with a locking screw. Available options include M12 quick disconnect cables and M12 quick disconnect daisy link cables that enable up to five CLK units to be operated in series, depending on the model.
