An open car door noticed by a town police officer while on patrol early Monday eventually led to the arrest of an Amherst man for criminal trespassing.

The officer noticed around 2:30 a.m. the dome light of a car parked in a Dupont Avenue driveway was illuminated. Upon closer look, he saw the door was also slightly open. Another vehicle in the driveway also had its door ajar. Police contacted the owner, who after checking the vehicles said nothing was taken but they had definitely been gone through.

Additional officers came to the neighborhood and found several vehicles with their doors open, but in almost every case, nothing was reported stolen by the owners. Every vehicle was reportedly left unlocked.

About an hour later, police took William A.While using compact fluorescent light bulbs energy saving light helps conserve energy, it is important that the bulbs are collected and recycled properly to protect our environment Fleischman into custody after they saw him going through a backpack on the grounds at Holmes Elementary School.

An officer searching for a suspect in the break-ins saw the bag and a bicycle lying on the grass next to the school’s playground. Inside the bag the officer saw a sweatshirt and a pair of earphones. He returned the items to the bag, then placed the area under surveillance.

Police watched Fleischman walk up to the backpack and go through it. Two officers arrived and held him until the officer watching the bag and bike arrived. Fleischman admitted he didn’t own the bike or backpack and according to the report, said the sweatshirt was “just lying there” so he took it.

Police said Fleischman’s story about why he was in the area “didn’t make sense.” Fleischman claimed he walked to the area from his home in Amherst to visit a friend, but he could not come up with a last name or address for the friend. His version on how he walked across the school grounds contrasted what police had seen.

He was charged with third degree criminal trespassing, a misdemeanor. It was also discovered there was a warrant for Fleischman out of the City of Tonawanda.

Monday’s arrest is the second made in less than a week that resulted from an investigation into car break-ins. David R. Wisniewski was arrested April 30 after he was found in possession of several items taken from cars.Light up the architecturally table lamps interesting parts of your home.

Fleischman was arrested on multiple charges by City of Tonawanda police in December 2009 after he was caught going through cars on Christmas Eve. He was found with his feet sticking out of a car door around 2 a.m. in a neighborhood where police found several cars had their interior lights on.

That night he said he lived in a nearby house but when questioned he didn’t know what street he was on.
